
McCready Named Defensive Player of the Week

(Rochester, February 22)... Rochester Knighthawk Pat McCready was named the National Lacrosse League Defensive Player of the Week after helpingRochester earna 15-12 come-from-behindvictory over the Washington Stealth. On Saturday, McCready scored three times, while collecting one assist and seven loose balls.
The Knighthawks' defenseman currently leads the team with 43 loose balls. The hat trick by McCready was his first since he scored three goals in a six-point effort on April 15, 2000 against the Philadelphia Wings.
On Saturday, McCready will wear an "A" as one of the East Division's alternate captains at the 2012 NLL All-Star Game event at First Niagara Center. The 17-year pro will make his second straight start in the NLL All-Star Game and third appearance in the prestigious event. At the 2011 All-Star Game, he also served as an alternate captain.
Last season, McCready captured the NLL Defensive Player of the Year Award, as he led the team with 101 loose balls. The St. Catharines, Ontario, native also notched 18 points in 15 games, which was second among league defensemen. McCready also shared team Defensive Player of the Year honors with Sid Smith.
McCready, 37, ranks in the league's Top 10 in four individual categories. He is also third all-time in loose balls (1,542), second in penalty minutes (453) and ninth in games played (210). For his career, he has 378 points (140+238) and two NLL Championship rings: 1997 with Rochester and 2008 with Buffalo.
The Rochester Knighthawks will travel to play the Toronto Rock on Friday, February 24th at the Air Canada Centre at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
