Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami will face FC Cincinnati this Sunday aiming to bounce back after Wednesday's tough result.
Reflecting on this past week, goalkeeper John McCarthy shared his thoughts about his mindset going into this next game.
"You got to look forward, you get a little [angry], watch some film today and it's over with. You can't dwell on it for too long so now we have to go to Cincinnati and get three points. That's the life we live and the sport we play. So, if you dwell on it for too long, it will never end up great. Time's over, and let's get three points in Cincinnati."
McCarthy shared his excitement about the upcoming match, the fans, and how the team will help inaugurate Cincinnati's new soccer-specific stadium.
"I think it's an awesome opportunity. I think the fans are going to be great. I think the environment is gonna be something special to be a part of, whether it's a home game or an away game I think that's a cool thing to just have," said McCarthy ahead of the first-ever match at TQL Stadium. "You get to open up in a brand new stadium that's gonna be in this league for a very long time so I'm looking forward to it."
Sunday's game will be the final of a three-match week. McCarthy explained what the game means to him and his expectations for the team.
"For Cincinnati as a team, I don't care if the team is in first place, last place, middle of the table, you got to go and you got to compete at a week, or week and a half off, we've had three games this week. It doesn't matter, you can say a couple different things, 'if this, if that' - no, you go, you perform and you got to get the job done and that's what we have to do."
For the goalkeeper, continued development and improvement as a player starts with focusing on himself.
"I think it's a bit more, try to stay a bit more composed and do my job to the best of my abilities and not getting caught up in the game too much you know. I would see things happen from time to time but for me it's just trying to grow and learn. It's kind of what I've been saying, it's a day-to-day thing. I worked on it today and today's over so now I got to work again tomorrow, so I think that's something that I put myself forward to everyday," said McCarthy.
