Maywood Buzz News Release

Maywood, CA. The ABA Maywood Buzz today announced that they will host a three day, eight team shoot-out. The event will take place on the weekend of November 14th-16th. All games will be played at the Maywood Activity Center, located at 4801 East 58th Street, Maywood, CA 90270. "This is an awesome way to get in some pre-season games while at the same time Owners, Coaches and General Managers can view their players that are in training camp right now under ABA rules, game situations and how they play under pressure," stated Buzz GM/Head Coach Burrel Lee III.

"We will be using a modified clock of four 8-minute quarters with teams playing a total of 5 games in 3 days. Two games both Friday and Saturday with the Championship, 3rd Place, 5th Place and 7th Place games taking place on Sunday afternoon," added Lee. "The winner will walk away with the Maywood Buzz Pre-Season Shoot-Out Trophy. Not all teams will be ABA teams as we will also have a couple of local competitive Pro-Am teams with players looking for a chance to showcase their skills against ABA teams."

Don Sanchies, who coaches and runs the Los Angeles Slam (formerly Semi Pro Inc) said, "This is a great chance for the players I have that may have been overlooked or just need to be seen to get their spot. It may be a long shot, but the chance that the Buzz is giving us to come out and compete with the talent that these teams will bring is great."

ABA teams that have committed to play in the Shoot-Out are the Maywood Buzz, San Diego Wildcats, San Francisco Rumble and Arizona Rhinos. "We are hoping to get the Modesto Bearcats, LA Push and Las Vegas Aces or one of the other West Coast ABA teams to come out and join us," said Lee.
