Stunners to sit out ABA season

St. Louis Stunners News Release

After much consideration and carefully taking the time to analysis our organization and the current situation of the American Basketball Association, we have decided that it would not be in the best interest of the Stunners or our fans to play in the upcoming ABA

2008-09 season.

When we first took on the task of bringing professional basketball back to the great city of St. Louis, we knew there would be many challenges. Most of them with the support of our fans, we have overcome. At this time, there are reoccurring situations that I believe can't be corrected this close to the commencement of the season. I personally believe that these situations at can easily be corrected, but until then we will suspend all operations with the American Basketball Association.

In closing, on behalf of the Stunners, I would like to personally apologize to our fans for any inconvenience. As I promised, we will keep professional basketball in St. Louis. At this time, we will not lay-off any of our staff, as we are currently planning to return professional basketball next fall. We look forward for your continual support of the Saint Louis Stunners.

Sincerely,

Earl A Childress II

Chairman & CEO

St. Louis Stunners

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
