Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA- Macon Mayhem forward John Siemer provided two goals and was one of five Mayhem players to record a multi-point game, as the Macon Mayhem were victorious 6-1 over the Mississippi RiverKings on Friday night.
Macon got out to a blazing start in the first period, getting out to a three-goal lead through one frame. John Siemer started the scoring just three minutes into the game on a one-timer, assisted by Paul Russell and Dennis Sicard. Just two minutes later, Dylan Denomme dove to the ice to poke in a rebound goal. Off of the original one-timer opportunity, Daniel Gentzler and Caleb Cameron collected the assist. With two minutes left, Siemer sent a centering pass to Sicard on the penalty kill, which deflected off a Mississippi defender for the short-handed goal.
The Mayhem picked up another trio of goals in the second period to take a 6-0 lead heading into the final period. Darren McCormick started the scoring, picking off a pass from Mississippi defenseman Jake Schultz and burying it past goaltender Tyler Green. Ryan Salkeld then picked up the fifth goal, as he received a pass from Mayhem newcomer Craig Skudalski and scored on a beautiful move on the breakaway. Caleb Cameron completed the scoring in the second period, scoring on a wrap-around to make it 6-0.
Mississippi tallied one goal in the third period, as Ryan Marcuz fired a shot past Mayhem goaltender Charlie Finn to end his shutout bid. That is all Mississippi would get, however, as the Mayhem picked up the 6-1 victory.
NOTABLE STATS: Charlie Finn started for the third consecutive game and picked up his third straight victory. He stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced, as his bid for his first career shutout was ended in the third period.
With scoring six goals in the game, the Mayhem have now scored five or more goals in 12 of the 33 games they have played this season. In those 12 games, they have an 11-0-1 record.
John Siemer stayed hot, as he scored his 10th and 11th goals of the season in the first period. He now has four goals, three assists and seven points in his past four games. Newcomer Craig Skudalski collected a pair of assists in his Mayhem debut. Dennis Sicard, Caleb Cameron and Dylan Denomme also recorded two points apiece in the game.
KERR'S COMMENTS: "We played a complete hockey game tonight. When you have a team that is struggling, you want to jump on them early and keep them down, and that is exactly what we did. When you lose a guy like Jake Trask, you need everyone to step up and play better, and I thought the whole team stepped up and did their part tonight."

1. John Siemer (2 goals, short-handed goal)
2. Charlie Finn (Win, 29 saves on 30 shots, 1 goal allowed)
