Jimmy Soper signs three-game tryout, Gentzler returns from ECHL loan

MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem announced Wednesday that the team has signed forward Jimmy Soper to a three-game tryout. In separate a transaction, captain Daniel Gentzler has returned from loan to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

The 22-year-old rookie Soper comes to Macon after playing 15 games for the Danville Dashers of the Federal Hockey League (FHL) this season. In 15 games, he has 11 goals, 10 assists and 21 points, as well as 57 shots on goal. The Waterloo, ON native played one year collegiately for Wilfrid Laurier University at the USports level, collecting two goals and two assists. In his junior hockey career, the 6-1, 175-pound forward spent four seasons over three different leagues - including one season for the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

Gentzler played five games for the Toledo Walleye, recording one assist and one fight. He spent time as both a center and a defenseman for Macon before being loaned to the ECHL, and he had three goals, 18 assists and 21 points in 18 games. The Mayhem captain has 28 goals, 69 assists and 97 points in 120 career games in Macon.
