INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks sweep their season series with the Arizona Sundogs, notching their fourth and final scheduled match-up against the Sundogs with a 5-1 victory on Tuesday night.
The Mavericks trailed 0-1 after the first twenty minutes of play when the Sundogs' Kevin Baker scored the first goal of the game 2 minutes into play.
John-Scott Dickson got the equalizer for the Mavericks at the 5:55 mark of the second period, assisted by Sebastien Thinel and Even Vossen. Eric Castonguay ended the Mavs power play goal drought with a man-advantaged goal late in the second, assisted by Sebastien Thinel and Mike Ramsay. Castonguay lit the lamp once more before the end of forty minutes, assisted again by Sebastien Thinel.
The Mavericks leading 3-1 over the Sundogs entering period three, Anders Franzon got a piece of the action with his own goal at the top of the third period to expand the Mavs lead to 4-1. Missouri kept the pressure on Arizona and Rob Kleebaum gave the Mavs their final tally of the game with 2 minutes left on the board, assisted by John-Scott Dickon, and Andrew Courtney.
Four Mavericks players had multiple points Tuesday evening: Thinel (4A), Dickson (1G, 2A), Castonguay (2G), and Ramsay (2A). Eric Castonguay takes over as leading goal-scorer for the Missouri Mavericks with 11 goals so far this season.
