St. Charles Chill News Release

Rapid City, SD - Rush's Kyle Reeder scored the first goal of the night at the 4:24 mark of the first period en-route to a hat trick to lead Rapid City to a 7-2 win over the shorthanded Chill Tuesday night.

Rapid City (17-2-0) rushed out to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from Reeder and Jesse Schultz, who picked off a pass in the slot and fired it past Chill goalie Linus Lundin.

The Rush picked up where they left off to start the second frame with Reeder netting his second of the night to stretch the lead to 3-0. The Chill (4-12-4) were playing short one defenseman and one forward but continued to battle despite allowing two more goals to fall behind 5-0 at the 2:04 mark of the third period.

St. Charles outshot the Rush 11-9 in the final stanza and their continued effort paid off early in the third when Dan Weiss fired in a rebound after a pass from Nicklas Lindberg and shot from Steven Anthony to get on the scoreboard. 10 minutes later the Chill closed the score to 5-2. Steve Makway continues to lead all defensemen in goals scored, notching his seventh on a blast from the blue line that found its way through traffic. Lindberg and Anthony each picked up their second assists of the night on the goal.

Rapid City added two more goals in the final two minutes, including Reeder's third, to pull away with the win.
