Mavericks Sign Brandon Knight

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have signed guard Brandon Knight to a 10-day contract under the COVID-related hardship allowance. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Knight (6-2, 182) is an eight-year veteran with career averages of 14.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 29.5 minutes in 446 games (349 starts) with Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Cleveland and Houston. He played for Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd as a member of the Bucks in 2014-15.

Knight joins Dallas after beginning the year with the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce, who selected him sixth overall in the 2021 NBA G League Draft.

After being taken eighth overall by Detroit in the 2011 NBA Draft, Knight went on to earn NBA All-Rookie First Team honors for the Pistons in 2011-12. He became the first Pistons player named to the All-Rookie First Team since Grant Hill in 1994-95 (Hill shared NBA Rookie of the Year honors with Kidd that year).

The Miami native was a two-time Gatorade National Player of the Year and a two-time Florida Mr. Basketball honoree (2009, 2010) before going on to play one season at the University of Kentucky. As a freshman, Knight averaged 17.3 points (.423 FG%, .377 3FG%, .795 FT%), 4.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 38 games (all starts) for the Wildcats en route to earning First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

Knight will wear #20 for the Mavericks.
