Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Adelanto, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers' bid to sweep the High Desert Mavericks and win its season-best fifth consecutive game came up short on Sunday night at Heritage Field with an 11-7 loss. The Sixers matched a season-high with three homers in the game but could not overcome the seven-run sixth for High Desert (74-52, 31-25).

Inland Empire trailed 3-0 in the third when Jeff Boehm lifted a solo shot to center for Inland Empire (45-82, 22-35) to make it 3-1 against Mavs' starter Collin Wiles. The homer was Boehm's fourth of the season. The Sixers trailed 4-1 heading into the fifth but tied the contest 4-4 during the frame as Michael Strentz tagged his seventh homer of the year, a two-run shot. Michael Hermosillo's RBI single tied the game at 4-4.

The Mavs then unloaded in the sixth against starter Jake Jewell (1-14) and reliever Jordan Piche'. High Desert got a three-run homer from Scott Heineman and another from Jose Trevino in the inning to make it 11-4. Heineman had three hits in the game and four RBI, the homer was his 16th of the year; Trevino's blast was his ninth.

Inland Empire cut into the deficit when Michael Hermosillo singled and Hutton Moyer's double knocked him home. Jared Foster then lined a homer out to left off reliever Felix Carvallo for a two run shot to make it 11-7. Foster's fourth dinger of the year would be as close as the Sixers got however. Shane McCain (6-3) was credited with the win for High Desert with two scoreless innings of work.

The Sixers return to San Manuel Stadium on Tuesday to host Stockton at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com and 1570 AM KPRO.
