
Matt White Commits to UNO

OMAHA, NE - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that Lancers forward Matt White has committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha for the 2010-2011 season. White is quite familiar with the city of Omaha as he is currently preparing for his third consecutive season in a Lancers sweater.
White suffered through an injury-plagued rookie season in the USHL as he managed just 5 goals and 16 points while suiting up for just 38 regular season games in 2007-08. The Whittier, California native was up to full speed in the postseason, however, where White managed 10 points in just 13 playoff games helping guide the Lancers to the Clark Cup championship. White showed last season what he was capable of over a full year as he finished 5th among all Lancers in scoring notching 47 points thanks 17 goals and 30 assists. The 3-time Lancer is expected to be an integral part of the 2009-2010 Lancers and one of the most gifted offensive players in the entire USHL.
White's commitment also means a reunion with longtime Lancers head coach Mike Hastings who was recently named one of the new assistant coaches at UNO. Hastings spent 14 seasons behind the Lancers bench amassing 529 regular season victories during his tenure in Omaha.
The Lancers open regular season play in their new home at the Civic Auditorium Saturday, October 3rd at 7:05 PM when they welcome the Tri-City Storm. Season tickets are currently on sale through the Lancers front office. Individual game tickets go on sale Monday, September 14th.
