North Carolina FC News Release

Cary, NC (Tuesday, September 9, 2008) - The USL announced Team of the Week honors for week 21 of the 2008 USL-1 Season. RailHawks midfielder Matt Watson was named among the best eleven for his performance against the Charleston Battery that resulted in two assists and a 3-1 victory.

"Matt had a phenomenal game on Saturday night," said RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "He has worked past his injuries and is taking over this league. He is growing to be one of the top contenders in the USL."

Watson led the RailHawks to a 3-1 victory over Southern Derby Cup rival Charleston and recorded two assists in the process. Watson started the match on the right flank but was forced to move to the center midfield position when forward Ronald Cerritos exited the match after sustaining an injury. In the 43rd minute he found an open Steven Curfman, who took over Matt's position on the right, and set him up for the shot that resulted in the 2-0 tally for the RailHawks.

Watson continued to control the midfield and set up his teammates throughout the second half and, in the 86th minute, initiated a run down the right side of the field and crossed the ball over to RailHawks forward Rey Martinez who tapped it in past Battery goalkeeper Dusty Hudock fixing the score at 3-1.

RailHawks fans will have a chance to see Watson and the rest of the team in action this Sunday, September 14, at 6:00 p.m. as the RailHawks host the Rochester Rhinos in another must-win match. It is Swoops' birthday and the first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a limited edition Swoops trading card courtesy of Cricket wireless. Tickets for this match, including a special 4 for $44 deal, are available at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425), at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
