Seattle Sounders News Release
(Seattle, WA) - Seattle Sounders' midfielder Leighton O'Brien and forward Sebastien Le Toux were selected for USL Team of the Week honors for week 21 of the USL regular season, it was announced by the United Soccer Leagues today.
The selection equals O'Brien's second of the season (week 3, 21) and Le Toux's fourth (week 6, 8, 15, 21) for USL weekly honors.
Leighton O'Brien scored two goals against the Miami FC Blues Saturday playing in his first game back after suffering a broken wrist in Seattle's 1-0 victory over the Charleston Battery, July 26. The first came on a penalty kick that was set up when Le Toux was taken to ground by Blues keeper, Josh Saunders. The next goal came when O'Brien made a run down the center and was fed the ball from Le Toux on the wing; O'Brien collected himself at the top of the 18 yard box and fired into the corner for the goal.
For Le Toux' part, the striker put in his 12th goal of the season putting him two back of Miami FC' Alex Afonso (14) in the race for the league's top goalscorer. Le Toux scored Seattle's second goal in the 49th minute on a pass from Kenji Treschuk who weaved his way into the left side of the 18 yard box and sent in a low ball to the French striker sitting in front of an open net, who passed it in for the insurance goal.
Next up for the Sounders is a Wednesday night match against the red hot Montreal Impact. A win means a playoff berth for Seattle. Kickoff at Starfire is set for 7:00 pm, tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com.
