
Matt Smith Sent To The Disabled List

OTTAWA - Lynx reliever Matt Smith has been placed on the disabled list with left elbow inflammation.
Smith, who will turn 28 on Saturday, last pitched Monday night in Pawtucket, allowing one run on two hits over 1.2 innings in the Lynx loss to the Red Sox. He is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 16 games out of the Lynx bullpen this season.
Smith made his Major League debut last season with the New York Yankees without allowing a run in 12 games. He was traded by the Yankees to the Phillies as part of the trade that sent Bobby Abreu to New York last July. He allowed two earned runs in 14 games with the Phillies. Smith is 34-37 with a 3.44 ERA in eight seasons of Minor League baseball.
