Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Indians Manager Trent Jewett has started a weekly blog on IndyStar.com. The exclusive internet feature can be accessed by going to http://blogs.indystar.com/indians/

The Indianapolis Star's on-line home receives over one million visitors each day, and is widely regarded as the state's No. 1 media web site. Jewett's blog is currently linked on the sports page of IndyStar.com and the front page of IndyIndians.com.

After reading Jewett's weekly blog, Tribe fans will have the ability to post questions, comments and/or topic suggestions.

"I certainly appreciate The Indianapolis Star giving me this opportunity," Jewett says. "The blog is a great vehicle to discuss various topics with Indianapolis Indians fans. I am looking forward to this new project, and hope to bring fresh insights to the internet each week."

Indianapolis owns the best record in all of Triple-A Baseball (39-25) through 64 games this season. The Indians have also led the International League's West Division for 58 consecutive days.

Jewett guided Indianapolis to a 154-132 regular-season mark in his first two years at the helm. The 2006 Indians earned a share of the league's West Division crown after going 76-66, while the 2005 Tribe went 78-66 before advancing to the Governors' Cup Finals. Indy had not enjoyed back-to-back winning seasons since 1999-2000.

The 43-year-old is in his third season as manager of the Indians, 10th campaign as a Triple-A skipper and 16th year as an instructor in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

Indianapolis returns to Victory Field on Monday for a 7 p.m. contest against Pawtucket. Tickets are available by going on-line at www.IndyIndians.com, visiting the Victory Field Box Office at 501 West Maryland Street or calling Ticketmaster at 317-239-5151.
