Palm Beach Cardinals News Release
The Palm Beach Cardinals had one player named to the Florida State League end of the year All-Star team, Matt Pearce, as he was one of the pitchers named to the team. Pearce had a great year for the Cardinals as he was the backbone of the pitching rotation this season.
Pearce ended up going 8-8 in twenty starts this season posting a 2.37 ERA during his time in the FSL before being called up to the Double A, Springfield Cardinals. His 2.37 ERA put him third in the league in that category. He also led the league in complete games thrown with four on the season.
He tossed a team high 136.2 innings, giving up only 114 hits over those innings, giving up 43 runs (36 earned), walking only 15 batters and striking out 81. Opponents only hit .222 off of Pearce throughout the season. He was also named as the Cardinals Minor League Pitcher of the Month in July.
