Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Tonight's Charlotte Stone Crabs game has been cancelled due to travel and safety concerns of the Palm Beach Cardinals.

With Tropical Storm Hermine threatening the area and with all the weather of the past few days it has been decided that there will be no Stone Crabs game this evening.

"Due to the impending forecast of Tropical Storm Hermine, we feel that it is in the best interest for the safety of our fans, players, coaches and staff, to not travel to Port Charlotte and play tonight's game," said an official statement from the St. Louis Cardinals organization.

This was the final home game of the Stone Crabs season, which unfortunately brings a bitter sweet end to the 2016 season.

"We are extremely disappointed for our fans who support us all season long that we cannot play our final game this evening. However, we respect the Cardinals safety concerns and their decision to not travel to Port Charlotte today. We cannot thank our great fans enough for what has been a tremendous season and we will be back bigger and better in 2017!" said General Manager Jared Forma.

All tickets for tonight's canceled game can be exchanged for any home game during the 2017 Stone Crabs season.
