Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, Michigan (May 15th) - With the annou ncement of the United States Hockey League's annual postseason All-USHL First and Second Teams, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that Forward Matt Iacopelli has been named to the All-USHL First Team after finishing the 2013-14 season with a league-leading 41 goals and becoming the third 40-goal scorer during the league's Tier I era (2002-present).
Iacopelli, the Woodhaven, Michigan native, led the Lumberjacks in goals (41), points (63), and plus-minus rating (+12) during the 2013-14 season, his first in the USHL. In addition, Iacopelli's 63 points on the season ranked him tied for seventh in the league, and the recent NHL Scouting Combine invitee set two new Lumberjacks USHL franchise records in both goals and points totaled during a single season surpassing notable alumni in Matt Berry (25 goals in 2010-11) and Ryan Misiak (58 points in 2010-11), respectively.
"It's a great feeling and an honor to be selected with other great players (in the USHL) also deserving of this recognition," said Iacopelli. "I wouldn't have been able to accomplish the season that I had without the help of my teammates and guidance of the coaching staff."
Following his junior career, Iacopelli has a commitment to play collegiately for the Broncos of Western Michigan University out of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).
