Matt Cepicky Recalled, Seung Song Placed on Temporary Inactive List

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Trapper Baseball Club announced today that the Montreal Expos have recalled outfielder Matt Cepicky. Edmonton's roster currently stands at 21 players; 10 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders and three outfielders, plus three players (right-handed pitcher Jose Colon, left-handed pitcher Scott Downs and right-handed pitcher Bo Donaldson) on the disabled list and one player (right-handed pitcher Seung Song) on the temporary inactive list.

Cepicky, 25, was hitting .300 (88-for-293) with five home runs and 43 RBI in 81 games with the Trappers. Cepicky batted .277 (116-for-419) with 16 home runs and 76 RBI for Double-A Harrisburg in 2002. The St. Louis, Missouri native also appeared in 32 games with the Expos last season and batted .216 (16-for-74) with three home runs and 15 RBI. He was originally drafted by Montreal in the fourth round of the 1999 draft.

In another roster move, the Trappers placed right-handed pitcher Seung Song on the temporary inactive list. Song, 23, was selected to participate in the fifth annual Futures Game at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. He pitched one inning of scoreless relief with two strikeouts in last year's Futures Game at Miller Park in Milwaukee, helping the World Team to a 5-1 win over Team USA. This will be the third consecutive year that Song has been selected to participate in the Futures Game. He was 3-0, 1.95 (27.2 IP - 6 ER) in five starts with the Trappers and 5-2, 2.35 (72.2 IP - 19 ER) in 13 starts with Double-A Harrisburg. The native of Pusan, South Korea went 7-7, 4.39 (108.2 IP - 53 ER) in 21 starts with Double-A Trenton and 0-0, 0.00 (5.0 IP - 0 ER) in one start with Double-A Harrisburg in 2002. Song was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox on February 2, 1999. He was traded with right-handed pitcher Sun Woo Kim to the Montreal Expos for outfielder Cliff Floyd on July 30, 2002.
