The Helena Brewers (1-2) fell dropped the opener of a four-game series with the Great Falls Voyagers (2-1) on Thursday 4-1 at Centene Stadium.

Matt Ball (1-3) picked up the win thanks to his best outing of the year. Ball would throw six innings of one-hit baseball, giving up one run and striking out eight.

The Brewers' lone run of the game came in the fourth inning when Troy Stokes reached on a wild pitch strikeout and advanced to second on a throwing error by Casey Schroeder. He would reach third on a groundout and score on a sacrifice fly from Steven Karkenny. It was Karkenny's 24th RBI of the season.

Josh Torres (2-1) was roughed up in the start, giving up 10 hits and 3 runs in 5 innings of work.

Jackson Glines led the Voyager offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

J.B. Kole would finish the game strong for Helena, pitching two shutout innings of relief and striking out four.

Great Falls is now 7-1 this season against the Brewers.

The two teams will face off in the second game of their four-game series Friday at Centene Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
