Matrix come from behind to win thriller
February 5, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Montreal Royal News Release
Montreal, Canada. With 0.9 seconds left in the game, the ABA Montreal Matrix edged out the Maryland Nighthawks 116-115 on a layup by ABA All-Star Manix Auriantal. Coming in strong with a record of 18-5, the Nighthawks were tough competitors. Trailing throughout the first three quarters, the Matrix got it right at the end. A three-pointer by San Ibrahim tied the game and with only 10 seconds left, Auriantal drove the length of the court to hit the winning layup. "I just concentrated on making sure the ball would go in by putting it on the board," said the Matrix guard.
The Matrix's record now stands at 11-12. The team also announced that Louis-Patrick Levros, who started the season with the Matrix, re-joined the team after a two-month stay with the Buffalo Rapids. He attended the Community College of Rhode Island from 2002-2004 before turning pro this season. The 21-year old forward was born in St. Leonard and grew up in Lavel.
