Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
CHICAGO, IL - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that forward Matej Paulovic has been named the CCM Forward of the Week by the United States Hockey League for the first time this season. Paulovic, a native of Topolcany, Slovakia wins the award following a strong weekend where he registered eight points in three games.
Thursday, the Lumberjacks battled the Waterloo Black Hawks for the final time this season. Despite falling to Waterloo in the final seconds of the game, Paulovic registered two goals and two assists. Friday, Muskegon kicked off their weekend series with the Youngstown Phantoms, where Paulovic helped the Lumberjacks to a 3-2 win. Paulovic set up Collin Adams for the first goal of the game, and finished the night in style with his third game winning goal of the season. The Dallas Stars prospect closed out the weekend with a two-goal performance in the Lumberjacks shootout loss to the Phantoms on Saturday.
Paulovic is currently on a three game goal scoring streak, five game scoring streak, and a 13 game home scoring streak where he has registered 25 points. After the eight point weekend, Paulovic now has a total of 44 points, with 18 goals and 26 assists.
Paulovic is in his third season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, and recently set the franchise scoring record, surpassing Matheson Iacopelli. In 122 games with Muskegon, Paulovic has scored 41 goals and notched 69 assists for a total of 110 points.
Paulovic was a 6th round pick of the Muskegon Lumberjacks during the 2011 USHL Phase One Draft. In 2013, Paulovic was drafted in the fifth round by the Dallas Stars of the NHL Entry Draft.
Paulovic is the fourth Lumberjacks player to receive the CCM Player of the Week honors this season, joining goaltender Joey Daccord (2), forward Rem Pitlick (4), and defenseman Trevor Hamilton, who received one before being traded from the Lumberjacks organization earlier this season.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (23-23-7) return to action this Friday, March 25th, to take on their former captain Trevor Hamilton and the Lincoln Stars (31-21-2) in the final home weekend of the season. The puck will drop at 7:15 p.m.
