Chicago Stars FC News Release
CHICAGO - The Chicago Red Stars return to NWSL league play on the road as they take on OL Reign Sunday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m. CT.
Where to Watch
Stream: Paramount+, Twitch (international)
Previous Result CHI: Kealia Watt and Rachel Hill both found the back of the net en route to a 2-1 victory at home over the Portland Thorns Saturday, September 25. OL: Bethany Balcer scored once and Eugénie Le Sommer scored twice as OL Reign defeated the Orlando Pride 3-0 Sunday, September 26.
Storylines
Defense Leads to Offense: The Red Stars backline looks to continue to be a bright spot for the team this weekend. A game after Casey Krueger scored to draw with Houston, Arin Wright showed a great team-first mindset when she passed up an open-net shot to instead set up Kealia Watt for the game-tying goal. Wright ended the night with an assist and the second-highest number of touches, playing a big role on both ends of the pitch.
Third Time's the Charm: The Red Stars and the Reign face off on Sunday evening for the third and final time this season. Their first matchup was in Tacoma, where the Red Stars fell 2-0 to the Reign June 22. In their July 18 rematch in Bridgeview, the Red Stars successfully defeated OL Reign in front of a home crowd by a score of 3-1.
Late-Season Scramble: Sunday begins a stretch where the Red Stars will play three games in seven days as the NWSL regular season begins to draw to a close, with two of Chicago's opponents currently in the playoff picture. Following the Red Stars' (currently fifth in the table) clash against the second-ranked OL Reign, they'll return home to play two consecutive games at home; beginning on Wednesday, October 13, against the Orlando Pride (sixth in the table) followed by a game Sunday, October 17 vs. Kansas City.
