Match Preview: San Antonio FC Hosts Second Edition of South Texas Derby vs. Rio Grande Valley FC

SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC (2-4-3) will host Rio Grande Valley FC (4-2-2) at Toyota Field on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be the second time the two clubs meet this season after RGV FC beat San Antonio 3-2 on May 7 at Toyota Field.

Coverage of the match will be available on Fox Sports Southwest, ESPN 3, and the USL Match Center.

SAFC will head into the game looking to earn three points after falling 0-1 to OKC Energy FC last Saturday at Toyota Field. Despite creating several quality opportunities throughout the match, San Antonio was unable to find an equalizer. The team currently sits in 12th place in the league standings.

RGV FC will look to continue their good form after the team earned a comfortable 4-1 win over Swope Park Rangers last weekend. The team sits in fifth place on the league table and has not suffered a loss since April 30, when they were beat 2-0 by LA Galaxy II.

The first edition of the South Texas Derby saw RGV FC earn three points in the last minute of a dramatic 3-2 win. San Antonio FC was down 2-0 halfway through the second half before goals by forwards Manolo Sanchez and Shawn Chin sparked a brief comeback for the club.

The match will be the fourth in 11 days for San Antonio FC. The club will return to action on Wednesday, June 1 as they visit the Des Moines Menace (PDL) in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
