City Islanders Secure Three More Points at Clipper Magazine Stadium

Harrisburg, PA - City Islanders FC picked up their second USL win in three days and their third win over all with a 2-1 win over Toronto FC II at Clipper Magazine Stadium in front of an attendance 1,531 on Tuesday night.
Paul Wilson and Aaron Wheeler duplicated City's efforts from Sunday night by combining for two quick goal in the first half. Toronto had a push towards the end but despite conceding a late goal in stoppage time, the Islanders defense was a huge factor in the result.
With this win City moves to 4-5-1 (13 points) on the season and they will jump into the 8th spot in the USL Eastern Conference. Wilson's goal gives him four on the year and a total of 11 points to lead the team in scoring.
City opened up the game with quick pressure on the Canadian team's defense. Toronto played the majority of the first 30 minutes in their own end and City took advantage of with two long shots from their leading goal scorers on the year.
Wilson opened the scoring with his fourth goal of the season after making a clever defensive play to not only steal the ball, but play it over the sliding defender. After breaking free he took a few steps and chipped the ball over a sprawling Quillan Roberts. Wilson's goal was also the first official shot of the game for the Islanders.
Similar to last game, City wasted no time in distancing themselves from the opposition when Wheeler spun a quick and hard shot that curved from right to left and into the back of the net. This was Wheeler's third goal in two games.
Toronto tried to make a push as the second half was coming to a close, but the solid play of the Islanders defense combined with heavy offensive possession kept Toronto from making any quality threats on the Islander's goal. City's keeper, Keasel Broome, did not have to face one shot in the first 45 minutes.
The story of the second half was the staunch play of the Islanders defense led by Liam Doyle, who help keep Toronto without a shot until stoppage time. As for the offense, City had a few chances but failed to put a third behind Roberts.
In the final minutes of the match Toronto's Brian James weaved his way through the City defense and peppered a shot right off the calf of an Islanders defender. The ricochet was enough to fool Broome who had only faced two shots up until that point.
City will head on the road for their next four games before returning to FNB Field on June 21 at 7 p.m. to take on the other team from Canada in FC Montreal. The next game Islander game will be Saturday, May 28 when they head to Ohio to take on Cincinnati FC.
