Match Preview: Sacramento Republic FC vs LA Galaxy II

Sacramento Republic FC (5-4-0, 15 pts) travel to Carson, Calif to take on LA Galaxy II (4-3-1, 13 pts) on Sunday, May 17 at the StubHub Center. Kickoff is 4:15 p.m. PDT.

The match was moved to 4:15 p.m. PT to accommodate fans attending the U.S. Women's National Team match against Mexico at StubHub Center which starts at 6 p.m. PT.

This will be the third of four regular season matches between Republic FC and LA Galaxy II this season. Republic FC won both of the previous matches. On March 28, Republic FC beat Los Dos 3-2 behind two penalties by Octavio Guzman and a stoppage time goal by Rodrigo Lopez. Republic FC then beat Galaxy II 3-1 at Bonney Field Opening Night on April 11.

Republic FC enter the match following a 3-0 win over Seattle Sounders FC 2 on May 9. Defender Nemanja Vukovi? scored his first goal of the season in the 19th minute. Rodrigo Lopez and Adnan Gabeljic added goals in the 62nd and 77th in Republic FC's fourth home win of the season.

Lopez scored his USL-leading sixth goal and his team-leading third assist of the season against S2. Lopez now has five goals and three assists in his last six matches. He has also owned Los Dos, scoring six goals in six all-time matches against Galaxy II.

Gabeljic's goal was his first of the season and his first professional goal. Gabeljic took a season-high four shots against S2 after coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute.

Goalkeeper Patrick McLain recorded his league-leading third shutout of the season against Los Dos. McLain has allowed just three goals in his last five matches, including all three shutouts. He has save 18 of 21 shots faced in that period for a save percentage of .857.

LA Galaxy II come in to the match on a four-match winning streak. Los Dos struggled at the start of the season going 0-3-1 and scoring just four goals. However, since losing to Republic FC on April 11, Galaxy II have found their stride, going 4-0-0 and outscoring opponent's 7-2.

Midfielder Raul Mendiola has been a large part of Galaxy II's offensive success this season. Mendiola has recorded a league-high seven assists and scored a goal in eight appearances. He has recorded an assist in each of Galaxy II's four-match win streak.

Forward Ariel Lassiter has also been a force on offense for Los Dos. He has scored a club-leading four goals this season. Lassiter has scored three goals during Los Dos' four-match win streak.

Republic FC are 4-1-1 all-time against Galaxy II in USL regular season matches. Republic FC have played four regular season matches at the StubHub Center, three against Galaxy II and one against the Chivas USA Reserves. Republic FC are undefeated at the StubHub Center, going 3-0-1 and outscoring their opponents 10-4.
