May 17, 2014 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release

Sacramento Republic FC hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy II in their third home match of the USL PRO regular season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The match will be played at Hughes Stadium in front of a sellout crowd, the second sellout of the season for Republic FC.

The match is the third between Republic FC and Galaxy II. Republic FC shutout their rivals 3-0 in the most recent matchup between the two sides on April 13. Mickey Daly, Dakota Collins and Max Alvarez all scored for the Republic FC in the victory. Alvarez and Collins scored their first professional goals in the match. The other matchup this season between Republic FC and Galaxy II was the first match of the USL PRO regular season which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Justin Braun scored the first goal in club history in the 33rd minute of the match.

Braun is active for today's match after being sidelined with a hamstring injury that occurred in the last matchup versus Galaxy II on April 13. Republic FC's roster this evening includes the addition of midfielder Steven Evans; on loan from Republic FC MLS-affiliate Portland Timbers. Evans, who arrived yesterday, will be in attendance but will not dress. The addition of Evans will balance the depth of MLS talent on the Republic FC roster with the recent recall of forward Adam Jahn to San Jose Earthquakes.

Galaxy II enters the match after defeating Cal FC, a U.S. Adult Soccer Association club, 6-1 on Wednesday, May 14 in U.S. Open Cup play. Galaxy II dominated the match from the beginning scoring in just the 6th minute. Alejandro Covarrubias, Bradley Diallo, Jack McBean and Aleksandar Đoković scored a goal apiece while Travis Bowen scored two goals. Forward Raymundo Reza scored Cal FC's lone goal in the 60th minute.

Republic FC comes into the match after defeating the Ventura County Fusion 2-1 on Wednesday in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match moves Republic FC into a third round matchup against the Fresno Fuego on May 28.

At Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup match, both clubs were relatively quiet, with neither side really breaking through although Republic FC dominated possession. In the 36th minute Fusion was able to find the back of the net when Agustin Cazarez found Jordan Rideout in stride. Rideout was able to put the ball past approaching keeper Dominik Jakubek.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Fusion until the 59th minute Republic FC was able to equalize. Second-half substitute Rodrigo Lopez took a free kick that found the head of defender Harrison Delbridge. The goal was the first for Delbridge, a former Fusion player, since signing with Republic FC.

Republic FC rode the momentum of their first goal and in the 78th minute forward Collins put Republic FC ahead 2-1. Defender Emrah Klimenta took the initial strike but his try was deflected to match-captain Chad Bartlomé who had his shot blocked by Fusion goalkeeper Trey Mitchell. Collins followed the play beautifully and, after the ball hit off Mitchell's hands, was able to fire the ball in for the game-winning goal.

The match will be broadcast live on KHTK Sports 1140 and streamed live on YouTube and at www.sacrepublicfc.com. Updates will be provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC and by using #SRFCvLA.
