The Latest on the Team
The Indomitable Club drew Phoenix Rising FC for the second time this season over the weekend, playing to a 1-1 stalemate in Arizona. Luis Felipe's goal in the 23rd minute put the Boys in Old Glory Red ahead before Phoenix responded in the 84th minute.
Earlier this week, it was announced that community ambassador, Sacramento native and all-time club leader in goals, assists, appearances, and minutes Cam Iwasa would hang up his boots at the conclusion of this season. The Indomitable Club will celebrate Iwasa prior to kickoff on Saturday all through the week and encourages fans to participate with the #ThankYouCam hashtag.
Opponent Report
San Diego suffered a late defeat at the hands of Oakland Roots SC last Saturday at Torero Stadium despite two goals from Augustine Williams. Corey Hertzog recorded his team-leading fifth assist of the season on Williams' opening strike and leveled the match in the 84th minute before Roots SC responded to take all three points.
Loyal SC enters Saturday as one of five clubs in the USL Championship with at least 50 goals to their credit. The side is second in the USL Championship with an 83% passing accuracy and has been held scoreless just five times all season.
Head-to-Head
Republic FC is 0-2-2 all-time against Loyal SC, including 0-2-1 this season. SRFC stole a point with a stoppage time equalizer in the clubs' first meeting back on July 3 in San Diego before Landon Donovan's side took three points in each of the next two matchups. Cam Iwasa and Darek Formella have scored for the Indomitable Club in the last two meetings with the San Diego side.
