After three straight road contests, the Indomitable Club finally returns home to Sacramento. This Saturday the club welcomes Oakland Roots SC for Salute to Service night, where they'll look to stay unbeaten at home and in regional derby matches this season by claiming their first ever win over the Bay Area side. The two clubs split points earlier this season in a 1-1 result.

The Latest - Republic FC

Sacramento dropped points for the first time in six weeks last Friday, falling 3-0 in the club's first loss since May 18. The club conceded more than two scores for the first time all season while being held scoreless for the first time since May 4 against New Mexico United, a match that ended in a scoreless draw.

Going up against a regional foe, as well as returning home to Heart Health Park should give Sacramento a boost. This season, Republic FC is unbeaten in 11 straight home contests - one short of the club record of 12 set in 2014. That run of form is no secret, but what may be is that the club hasn't conceded at home since an April 30 draw with Las Vegas Lights FC and is the only team remaining in USL Championship without a home loss.

Opponent Report

An eventful contest last week at Los Dos went against the Roots. After midfielder Charlie Dennis was shown red late in the first half, the Bay Area side played down a man for the entirety of the second. LA took full advantage of the extra space, scoring three times. The club will be without the services of its lead chance-creator as a result this week in Sacramento as he serves a one game suspension.

After claiming points in seven straight from May into June, Oakland has cooled off a bit, falling in two of their last four. However, the club remains as dangerous as ever with Magnus Karlsson up top, who enters Saturday's match just one score back of Orange County's Milan Iloski for the league's golden boot.

Head to Head History

Saturday will be the sixth meeting between Sacramento and Oakland all-time. In May, the two played to a 1-1 draw at Laney College, with Sacramento taking the lead in the first half, before Oakland equalized on a late penalty. This season, Sacramento holds a slightly better scoring differential at +4, compared to Oakland's even line. Republic FC has been better defensively, conceding half as many scores (15) as Oakland (30) and recording five clean sheets in league play to Roots' three.
