North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC (September 3, 2015) - The Carolina RailHawks are back in Cary to host the Atlanta Silverbacks at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday, September 4th at 7:30 pm ET.

Friday's faceoff will be the first matchup of the Fall Season between the RailHawks and the Silverbacks. The teams last met in April in Cary for the RailHawks' only home loss of the Spring Season; the score was 2-1.

The RailHawks currently sit only five points off of a post-season berth with half of the Fall Season yet to be played.

The Silverbacks are currently in sixth place in the combined standings with 26 points and are in fourth place in the Fall Season standings with 18 points.

The RailHawks are coming off a tough 3-2 loss against the New York Cosmos. In the 2nd minute of the game the Cosmos struck first with a goal, but the RailHawks continued pressuring and Nazmi Albadawi capitalized twice with goals of his own in the 24th and 42nd minutes. The Cosmos tied the game 2-2 in the 61st minute with a penalty kick and then scored again in the 85th minute. Albadawi's second goal against the Cosmos was nominated for NASL's Play of the Week.

The Silverbacks are coming off a 1-0 win against FC Edmonton at Atlanta Silverbacks Park to remain undefeated at home in the Fall Season. The game included much back and forth until the Silverbacks finally broke through with a goal in the 81st minute.

Following Friday's home game, the RailHawks will next travel to Toyota Field on Wednesday, September 9th for an 8:30 p.m. game against the San Antonio Scorpions. The match will be broadcast live locally in North Carolina on WRAL2, nationally on One World Sports, and on the radio at 99.9HD-3 The Ticket

RailHawks Notes:

Who to Watch

Nazmi Albadawi played an exceptional match against the Cosmos last Sunday. Albadawi scored two goals for the RailHawks and was a constant attacking threat throughout the match. His second goal at James M. Shuart Stadium was nominated for NASL's Play of the Week. Albadawi has now played 17 NASL matches for the RailHawks in 2015, including 16 starts and has logged nearly 1,400 minutes.

Coach's Quote

"Despite last game's result, the team responded well, controlled the game and created scoring opportunities," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clark. "Atlanta therefore becomes an opportunity for us to get back on track and get three important points."
