New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - For the second time in club history, the New York Red Bulls will appear in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals on Tuesday as they face Club Tijuana at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana, Mexico. Leg One will kick off at 10 p.m. ET and will be broadcast nationally on Univision Deportes and streamed on go90 alongside Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.
New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 9:30 p.m. ET with triHonda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon.
For the first time in franchise history, New York won their knockout round two-legged series in the CONCACAF Champions League to advance to the quarterfinals, recording a 3-1 aggregate over Club Deportivo Olimpia. The Red Bulls previously advanced through to the quarterfinals via the group stage, going unbeaten (2-0-2) against Antigua GFC (3-0; 0-0) and Alianza FC (1-1; 1-0).
After a 1-1 draw down in San Jose, Costa Rica, New York took care of business at home, scoring twice in the second half. Bradley Wright-Phillips opened up the second half with a goal just nine minutes in and Sean Davis followed up in the 64th minute for the insurance goal.
Wright-Phillips has carried over his late-season performance early into 2018, as he currently has a three-match point streak, dating back to the final match of 2017. The English striker has recorded two goals and one assist over the last three matches.
Tyler Adams joined Wright-Phillips as one of two active Red Bulls players to record an assist in four different competitions during the second leg against Olimpia. Adams tallied an assist on Sean Davis's goal to give him an assist in four different competitions in just 38 career matches.
New York will return to Red Bull Arena to host Club Tijuana in the second leg of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13. Leg Two will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on Univision Deportes and streamed on go90 alongside Red Bulls Radio in English on TuneIn.
