Louisville City FC News Release

Louisville, KY (July 2, 2015) - Saturday will be the second meeting of the season between Louisville City FC (6-3-5) and the Richmond Kickers (6-2-8). City is looking to build on the momentum of last week's 6-2 win over the OKC Energy versus one of the most historic clubs in the United Soccer League.

These two clubs first met on April 4th. A match that ended in a 1-1 draw was plagued with bookings and rough tackles. It was the last time Guy Abend has suited up for the boys in purple as he suffered an injury in the match that sidelined the midfielder for a huge chunk of the season.

Louisville continues their great play coming off of the record setting game against the Energy. The match showcased six goals scored by the purple and gold, which not only ended their scoring drought, but was the most goals they had scored in a match to date. They were led by forward Matt Fondy who has nine goals on the season thus far, but also recorded the franchise's first hat trick in the game. The squad also got two goals from Mangus Rasmussen and another from Kadeem Dacres to add to the total.

The Eastern Conference third place Kickers are coming into Slugger with a four game draw streak that they are looking to end. During this period they have played two straight rain-shortened games, most recently a 0-0 draw with the Charlotte Independence that finished after one half. Richmond has scored just one goal in the last four matches, which was back on June 10th against the Charleston Battery. Richmond is in the midst of a three game road trip that ends next weekend in St. Louis.

A win for City will give them a share of third with Kickers with two games in hand. With the team playing well at home and the holiday weekend, the crowd is expected to be a large one. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to get their tickets in advance, as this will be one of the most heavily anticipated matches of the home schedule.
