Penn FC News Release
Harrisburg, PA (July 2, 2015) - The Harrisburg City Islanders hope this weekend's match will result in a much-needed win when they take on the Wilmington Hammerheads July 4th at 7 p.m.
The Islanders (4-4-4 16pts) are seventh overall in the Easter Conference and are undefeated at home (2-0-2). In their last game on the Island they almost pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the USL all season as they pushed Rochester to the brink of defeat before surrendering a late goal.
Wilmington (2-8-6 12pts) is currently second to last in the tables and Saturday's game will be the tail end of a four game stretch in 10 days. Wilmington comes into the game following a 1-0 loss to Toronto FC with another game against St. Louis FC on Wednesday.
Harrisburg traveled to Legion Stadium at the beginning of the season and came out with a resounding 4-0 win. Ken Tribbett scored twice while Brett Jankouskas and Jason Plumhoff added their own goals. Nick Noble faced only faced two shots behind a tough defensive line. Saturday will be the last meeting between the teams this season.
It's been over a month since Harrisburg has been able to grab three points from a game. They have had a lot of chances to walk a way with a win but have seen games slip through their fingers in the last minutes of play. Plumhoff has been in great form lately and leads the team in points. It was Plumhoff's goal that gave Harrisburg the early lead against Rochester. Plumhoff is followed closely behind in scoring by Tribbett who has six points; four of those came against Wilmington.
Wilmington has only scored 11 goals the whole season and their leading scorer is Nick Zimmerman with three goals, although he hasn't scored since the second game of the year. Their only two wins have come on the road. Wilmington has given up 22 goals on the season while using four different goalkeepers through out the year.
Saturday's match will feature a BIMBO soccer scarf giveaway, limited edition July 4th HCIslanders tank tops and t-shirts for sale, 4 for $44 meal deal, Happy Hour featuring Lagunitas IPA (5:30-Kickoff) followed by post-match FIREWORKS! Additionally, stop by the Faulkner Subaru Bark in the Park Tent spotlighting Perry County Animal Rescue! Celebrate July 4th with the Islanders!
Harrisburg's next game will be back on the Island in just a few days for a rematch against the Charleston Battery at 7 p.m. Don't miss Armstrong Printing team photo giveaway, CPYSL Fall Champions Night and Happy Hour featuring Stoudts Scarlet Lady.
