Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - (Thursday, July 2, 2015) - The Richmond Kickers (6-2-8, 26 points) travel to take on Louisville City FC (6-2-5, 23 points) on Saturday, July 4. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m., broadcast live from Louisville Slugger Field on YouTube.com/RichmondKickers.

The Kickers and Louisville meet for the second time this season after battling to a 1-1 draw at City Stadium on April 4. Midfielder Juan Guzman lined up a free kick just outside the 18-yard box and connected with defender Austen King who nodded home the opening goal to give Louisville a first half lead. However, Kickers defender Sascha Görres combined with Matthew Delic?te less than 10 minutes after the break to level the score against the USL expansion franchise.

The Kickers enter Saturday's match following back-to-back matches abandoned following the 45th minute due to inclement weather. Violent thunderstorms over City Stadium terminated the Kickers' match against the Wilmington Hammerheads before weather once again forced an early exit in Charlotte one week later. Both games ended in scoreless draws, handing the Kickers' their 8th and 9th shutouts of the season, through all competitions.

Meanwhile, Matt Fondy had a hat trick and Magnus Rasmussen recorded two goals and two assists as Louisville broke out of its scoreless streak in impressive fashion against Energy FC last week. Conceding an early goal, Louisville rallied back in the second half to claim the lead before blowing by their Western Conference opponent 6-2 to post their biggest offensive output of the season.

Following Saturday's game, the Kickers conclude their three-game road stand in Saint Louis before returning to City Stadium to host the English Premier League's West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, July 19. Tickets are on sale now at RichmondKickers.com.
