WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Greenville Triumph Soccer Club travels to its' first away match of 2022 at North Carolina FC before a pair of April home matches. The team is coming off a strong win in the U. S. Open Cup against Oakland Roots SC, but remains 0-1 in league play after falling to Fuego FC in their Home Opener.
Greenville's all-time record against NCFC is 3-0-1. What the club lacked in finishing against Fuego FC was remedied during their Open Cup appearance with a 2-goal effort. Greenville has shown its' ability to possess the ball in both matches, but it must continue to capitalize on those scoring opportunities against NCFC this weekend to walk away with a W.
Although Greenville left the Roots match with three points, injuries to key players will challenge the squad during a stretch of three matches in eight days. Starters, Lucas Coutinho and Jamie Smith both sustained injuries that will hold them out for Saturday's match, and the club remains without Noah Pilato and Noah Franke. Greenville will need to use some of its' depth to fill those positions in order to remain strong, including new additions Nate Shultz and Alex Cox-Ashwood.
North Carolina FC sits at 4th in League One standings after playing matches against Tormenta FC and the Chattanooga Red Wolves. They're 1-1 for the regular season, grabbing three points in an away match with Tormenta and then coming up shy in their first home match against Chattanooga in a 3-1 loss. Out of league play, the North Carolina club crashed out of the U. S. Open Cup in their first match, losing 2-1 to Championship League team, Rio Grande Valley FC.
Greenville has a successful track record against North Carolina and is looking to improve upon their previous League One result, but NCFC and their transition game will present a tough task for the defending League One Finalists in Cary on Saturday.
