Union Omaha Signs Homegrown Talent Eddie Gordon

PAPILLION, Neb. - Union Omaha announced today the signing of midfielder Eddie Gordon for the 2022 season, pending league and federation approval. Gordon played under current Union Omaha head coach Jay Mims at the University of Nebraska-Omaha after putting together a stellar Nebraska high school soccer career.

Gordon played in every match his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons at UNO. He was named Second Team All-Summit League and All-Tournament Summit League in his final season with the Mavericks. Before his time at UNO, Gordon helped lead Creighton Prep to three straight Nebraska Class A Championship games and was a two-time Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year.

"Eddie has an incredible determination to succeed and a great attitude," Mims said. "He is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions. I look forward to his development over the next few years, and I am super proud of him. It really is special to begin his professional career right here in the city where he grew up."

"It's been a dream come true to be able to join this team and be a part of this organization, and I'm so blessed to be able to continue my journey here in Omaha," Gordon said. "I'm incredibly excited to have a chance to help this team in any way that I can! I can't wait to get started!"

The 2022 League One Championship defending campaign will continue on April 16 with a visit to South Georgia Tormenta FC. The home opener at Werner Park is set for April 23 vs. USL1 newcomer Central Valley Fuego FC.
