Match Preview: FC Tulsa's First Match of the 2024 Season

TULSA - FC Tulsa will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to face Las Vegas LIghts FC in their first match for the 2024 USL Championship Season.

Standings:

For the 2023 season, FC Tulsa finished with a record of 10-9-15 falling 10th in the Eastern Conference. In the 2023 season, Las Vegas Lights FC finished with a record of 3-21-10 finishing 12th in the Western Conference. Las Vegas Lights FC is coming off a 2-1 loss against Memphis 901 FC in their season opener last Saturday.

Last Matchup: FC Tulsa matched up against Las Vegas Lights FC last May which ended in a 1-1 draw. The two teams have matched up a total of 5 times all resulting in draws.

Where to Watch: The match will be available to watch for FC Tulsa supporters on ESPN+. The match will begin at 7 PM CT and will be played at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Players to Watch: FC Tulsa has gained many new valuable roster additions in the off season. Players to watch include newcomers Alexis Soauhy, Arthur Rogers, and Stefan Stojanovic and returner Phillip Goodrum.

Alexis Souahy: Souahy joined FC Tulsa via transfer from Spokane Velocity. Souahy reunites with Head Coach Mario Sanchez. Souahy spent the 2023 season with Union Omaha of the USL League One where he won the 2023 USL League One Players' Shield. He was also named to USL League One All-League First Team.

Arthur Rogers: Rogers signed with FC Tulsa this off-season following an outstanding season in USL League One. Rogers capped off the 2023 season with the USL League One Defender of the Year award and was named to the All-League First Team for the second straight season.

Stefan Stojanovic: Stojanovic joined FC Tulsa during the preseason. Stojanovic earned 11 appearances with the U.S. Youth National Team, led Philadelphia Union II with 10 goals in 2023 and 57th overall 2023 MLS SuperDraft pick.

Phillip Goodrum: Phillip came to FC Tulsa mid-way through the 2023 season. With only half a season in Tulsa, Goodrum tied the franchise record with 12 goals. Goodrum was initially drafted by Atlanta United with the 75th overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and signed with the club's USL Championship affiliate, Atlanta United 2.

Coach's Corner:

"We are looking forward to kicking off the season. I am really excited to see the team perform on Saturday night," Head Coach Mario Sanchez said. "The guys have been great throughout the preseason. We know we still have plenty of work to do but the most important thing is that the team has shown the right mentality throughout the preseason process."
