Atletico Ottawa News Release
Atlético Ottawa returns to TD Place for its last two home matches of the 2021 campaign, first up against Valour FC this Wednesday, October 20 (KO 7PM ET, live on OneSoccer and TSN 1200). This Wednesday's match is also billed as Cricket's Big Night in an effort to build a different bond with our local community and find Cricket the dog a new forever home (details HERE).
MATCH NOTES
Atlético Ottawa has played against Valour FC three times already this season, including the one Canadian Championship match at TD Place earlier in August, but has yet to win against the Winnipeg club.
Atlético Ottawa has an all-time record of 0W-0D-4L against Valour and a goal differential of -8.
Since Valour's last visit at TD Place, however, lots has changed:
Valour has a new head coach in Philip Dos Santos, who some Ottawa fans will recognize from his time with the city's former pro club Fury FC.
Valour FC has also been on a downward trend since leaving the home bubble, coming into Ottawa with only 1 win in their last 6 matches.
More importantly, Atlético has put some great performances together, including wins against Cavalry and FC Edmonton.
Entering the match, GK Dylon Powley is still leading the league with 78 saves this season, including a few more spectacular stops in the last week against FC Edmonton and Forge FC.
Malcolm Shaw continues to lead the team with 9 goals on his record this season, followed closely by Brian Wright (6), who was also one of the two Ottawa goalscorers the last time these two sides faced off against each other (Viti Martinez the other one in a 2-3 loss in Canadian Championship on Aug 21).
OUT: Brandon John (injury, season); Victor Martinez (injury, game to game), Shawn-Claud Lawson (injury, game to game); Drew Beckie (accumulation, 2 games); Vashon Neufville (accumulation, 1 game).
For Cricket's Big Night, Atlético Ottawa is extending an affordable ticketing offer with $5 kids tickets and $15 adults tickets in section N.
A number of Cricket's friends from the Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue will also be at the game, wandering the concourse, looking for potential adopters. For more information on the Eastern Ontario Potcake Rescue, visit http://www.saveapotcake.com/
