South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release
GREENVILLE, Sc. - South Georgia Tormenta FC is set to visit Greenville, South Carolina for the first time in 2023 to take on the Greenville Triumph SC in another rendition of the Peach States Derby this Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m. ET from Paladin Stadium, the home of Furman University's football team. South Georgia is one win away from winning the first-ever Peach States Derby cup after a 2-0 win from Optim Sports Medicine FIeld at Tormenta Stadium last April.
Unbeaten against the Triumph SC in eight consecutive games, the Statesboro side aims to continue its winning ways in Greenville at Paladin Stadium following five consecutive wins at Early Legacy College with tormenta FC outscoring the Greenville side at home 4 to 13.
South Georgia Tormenta FC obtained its first draw of the season last Saturday with defender Nick Akoto scoring his first professional goal nearing the end of the first half. South Georgia was able to once again have a great team showing with the offensive side being able to show great creativity and discipline throughout the entirety of the 90 minutes played.
With a nearly complete squad, Ian Cameron and his coaching staff will continue to build chemistry between Kazaiah Sterling and Arthur Bosua who both started for the first time together last Saturday.
South Georgia will aim to get its first win at Paladin stadium against the Triumph SC to secure the first-ever Peach States Cup which is played between the two teams. If SOuth Georgia lose or draw this Saturday, they will have another opportunity in July to get the second win of the season against the Triumph SC.
Midfielders Kingsford Adjei and Matheus Cassini are still recovering from previous injuries, making them unavailable for selection this weekend.
Following Saturday's match, Tormenta FC receives the visit of Lexington SC who will visit Tormenta Stadium for the first-time in its clubs history on Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium.
