MATCH PREVIEW
Fresno takes its playoff hunt to Colorado Springs, where the Foxes hope to gain ground in the postseason race Saturday against Switchbacks FC. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Weidner Field. After an impressive 4-1 win against Swope Park Rangers last week, the Foxes (4W-5L-7D) have another chance to take some points from another club above them on the table, this time against eighth-place Switchbacks, who are separated by just one point. It's be a tall challenge for the Foxes, who are 0-1-1 in games above 4,500 feet, though they have kept those scorelines low with a 1-1 draw at Reno and an 0-1 loss at Real Monarchs. At the front of that challenge for the Foxes is an offense that has taken the fourth-most shots in the entire USL (221), to score a seventh-best 22 goals at a 13% conversion rate. Helping create that production is Danny Barrera (28 chances created), Juan Pablo Caffa (25) and Jemal Johnson (20), the latter of which leads the team in goals scored at 7. The Foxes' trio will look to penetrate a Switchbacks' defense that has collected six clean sheets for fourth-most in the Western Conference and allowed just four goals (fifth-lowest). At the base of that defense is Taylor Hunter, who leads the club in interceptions (51), tackles won (29), and Jamal Jack (85 clearances and 83 duels won).
