LA Galaxy II News Release
LOS ANGELES - LA Galaxy II (3-8-4, 13 points) fell 1-0 to OKC Energy FC (5-10-1, 16 points) Saturday evening on the road at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City.
A battle of possession ensued throughout the first half, with both sides seeing scoring opportunities. The standout chance for LA Galaxy II came in the 39th minute. John Requejo found Frank Lopez with a cross in the center of the box as Lopez then headed the ball just wide of the post. Ultimately, unable to capitalize, the teams entered the half at 0-0.
Both sides came out of halftime determined to find the back of the net. Justin Dhillon forced OKC Energy goalkeeper Matt Van Oekel to remain alert with shots on goal in the 73rd and 82nd minutes.
However, OKC found a way to break through Galaxy II's defensive front, with Christian Volesky scoring a late goal in the 90th minute on an uncleared corner kick. Volesky co-leads OKC Energy in goals scored this season.
LA Galaxy II will remain in Oklahoma to face off against Tulsa Roughnecks FC for the second time this season on Wednesday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. PT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
