Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton Tiger-Cats' defensive lineman, Mason Bennett, will be participating in United Way Halton & Hamilton's Sleepless in Our Cities initiative to benefit local populations facing poverty and homelessness.
"We are incredibly proud of Mason for choosing to participate in a worthy cause like the Sleepless in Our Cities initiative and we're thankful United Way Halton & Hamilton has provided us with the opportunity to make a difference." Said Courtney Stephen, Director of Community Partnerships, Hamilton Sports Group. "We look forward to using our platform to help Mason raise both money and awareness to help the people in our community who really need it."
Participants will sleep in their car on February 24, beginning at 10 p.m. and will remain there overnight until 8 a.m. the following morning. Donations are now being accepted and will be matched up to $100,000, thanks to June and Ian Cockwell.
"With the rising cost of living, far too many have to make the difficult choice between paying essential bills or providing food for their family. This year's Sleepless in Our Cities event is an important step in bringing awareness of local poverty." Said Brad Park, President & CEO, United Way Halton & Hamilton. "With the support of our partners and stakeholders, like the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, we will elevate community dialogue and collaborate to raise critical funds desperately needed by the most vulnerable."
