Martinez Powers Salt Lake to Back-to-Back Wins Over Sacramento

Orlando Martinez stayed hot for the Salt Lake Bees Saturday night as they beat the Sacramento River Cats 8-4 for their second-straight win. The Bees improve to 53-57 with the win and the River Cats fall to 47-63.

Martinez went 3-for-4 in the game, falling a single short of the cycle. He drove in four of the Bees' eight runs and hit his third home run of the week. He is now hitting .529 in the series against Sacramento with 12 RBI, six runs scored, and six extra-base hits.

Jake Palomaki went 2-for-4 with a triple and a RBI and Kyle Kasser extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single in the eighth inning.

The Bees found themselves down 1-0 after the first inning, but scored runs in the bottom of the first, second, and fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead.

Sacramento tied things up with two runs in the top of the fifth and pulled ahead 4-3 in the seventh.

The Bees rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth. Martinez hit a bases-loaded triple to get things started and scored on the next play. Palomaki also hit his triple in the eighth inning, scoring Kasser from second to give the Bees an 8-4 lead.

Jose Marte came in from the bullpen in the ninth inning and closed the door on Sacramento as Salt Lake rolled on to claim the win.

The series finale will be played tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. as the Bees will try to earn the split.
