Marshals Name Carpenter Head Coach

Steve Carpenter will guide the 2006 Cincinnati Marshals as the head football coach, the new ownership group announced today.
"We are pleased to have someone with Steve's experience and enthusiasm as our head coach," Marshals owner Doug Hortman said. "Not only does Steve have a wealth of experience on the field with the indoor football game, he is an outstanding role model off the field.
Carpenter comes to the Marshals with ties to Cincinnati's indoor football history. Carpenter was an assistant offensive line coach for the Cincinnati Swarm of the AFL2 in 2002. In 2003, he moved on to become the assistant offensive line coach of the AFL2's Louisville Fire. Carpenter comes to the Marshals from the Dayton Warbirds, where he was the associate head coach and offensive coordinator in 2004 and 2005.
In addition to his duties with indoor football teams, Carpenter has also been the associate head coach at Centerville (IN.) High School where he is also in charge of the offensive line and defensive backs. He was also the assistant head coach and strength coordinator at Earlham College from 1999 until 2003 after serving eight years as an assistant head coach, strength coordinator and line coach at Chippewa High School in Doylestown, OH.
Carpenter graduated from Earlham College in 1987 and is also a member of the American Football Coaches Association and the AFCA/NCAA Professional Development program.
The Marshals open their second NIFL season on the road on March 18 against the Twin City Gators. Their first home game at US Bank Arena will be on April 1.
