Marshals announce coaching and players signings

Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Marshals of the National Indoor Football League proudly announce the addition of Lew Carpenter as Offensive Coordinator and Brian O’Neal as Assistant General Manager as well as the signing of a key running back for the 2005 season.

Lew Carpenter brings over 30 years of NFL playing and coaching experience to the Cincinnati Marshals. He began his career at the University of Arkansas and was selected by the Detroit Lions in 1953. He went on to play for Cleveland from 1957-1958 before being picked up by Green Bay in 1959. While in Green Bay, he was a member of both the Super Bowl I & II Championship squads. After retiring from playing, Lew spent many years coaching in the NFL as well as well as in the Arena Football League.

Brian “Bo” O’Neal began his career here in Cincinnati when he played for the 1986 undefeated State Champion Purcell-Marian Cavaliers. He went on to play fullback for Penn State from 1989-1993 before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent in 1994. He was traded to the San Francisco in 1995 and remained there until 1997. He currently runs the Mathis Foundation for Children which raises money for foster care and adoption for tri-state children in crisis.

Nick Ayers played his high school football at Glen Este High School before moving on to Georgetown College in Kentucky where he played on the 2000 and 2001 NAIA National Championship teams. While at Georgetown, he amassed a total of 2,990 career rushing yards, 723 receiving yards and scored a school record 48 rushing touchdowns. He was a 3 time first team Mid South Conference Running Back, a 2-time Don Hansen All-American and was rated as the NAIA Football.net number one rated fullback in the nation. He was signed as a free agent by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2004.
