Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - In a vastly different game from Friday's scoreless duel into the 10th inning, the Shreveport-Bossier Captains got a game-winning two-run home run from Uriak Marquez in the top of the ninth to outslug the Grand Prairie AirHogs 12-10 at QuikTrip Park Saturday night and set a new season-best with a 10-game winning streak.

The Captains (57-37, 28-19 2nd half) got out to an early lead, getting a two-out infield single by Christopher Garcia, a wild pitch and an RBI hit from Palmer Karr to go up 1-0 in the first inning. Greg Porter's two-out RBI single tied it in the bottom of the first, but the Captains struck back with two more on another RBI from Karr and a wild pitch to take a 3-1 lead in the third inning.

But the AirHogs (43-51, 19-28) struck back with power in the bottom of the third, after Cody Kelley walked the first two hitters. With one out, Porter launched a moonshot over the high batter's eye in centerfield for his 20th home run of the year. Ernie Banks then singled before Michael Hollimon crushed a homer to deep rightfield to give Grand Prairie a 6-3 advantage.

After an unearned run off Aaron Cunningham in the fourth, the Captains came back off Ryne Tacker in the fifth and sixth. Bryan Sabatella walked and stole second to start the fifth, stole second and scored on Robert Perry's triple, and Perry in turn scored on Tacker's third wild pitch of the game.

An inning later, Jovanny Rosario singled home Uriak Marquez to bring the Captains to within one, and Sabatella doubled and Perry singled to give Shreveport-Bossier the lead back. Grand Prairie evened things again with a triple and an RBI single by Daniel Berg in the sixth, but the Captains stuck their noses out in front with single runs in the seventh and eighth to go up 10-8. In the bottom of the eighth, David Espinosa tied it again, hitting a two-out, two-strike home run off Jameson Maj (5-0).

But Jorge Alvarez lined a single right off the first base line with one out in the ninth off Jose Obispo (0-1) - who was in his third inning of work - to set up Marquez's game-winner. Hector Carrasco then came on for the fifth straight day and allowed a two-out walk but got three groundouts to get his 22nd save of the season.
