Peoria Rivermen News Release

Jacob Markstrom made 36 saves and earned his second shutout of the season in San Antonio's 3-0 victory over the Peoria Rivermen on Friday night in the AT&T Center. It was their first meeting of the season with San Antonio (Florida Panthers) and the second time that the Rivermen have been shutout this season.

The Rampage opened the scoring off of a faceoff at 11:05 of the first period. James Wright won the puck off the draw to Jon Rheault, who pushed the puck between Mike McKenna's legs for his ninth goal and 24th point of the season.

In the second period, San Antonio doubled its lead only 2:48 into the frame. On a four-on-two rush, Jon Sim dropped the puck for ex-Rivermen Mike Mottau, who passed it to his right where Drew Shore was able to find the back of the net. Shore scored his team-leading 26th point of the year on a wrist shot.

The Rampage added another goal in the period when Greg Rallo scored his team-leading 13th goal of the year at 15:05. On a defensive zone turnover, Rallo found the top of the net on McKenna's glove side. Eric Selleck and Alex Petrovic were credited with assists.

Although Peoria had two power plays in the second period, they couldn't convert on either, going 0-for-3 in the game. San Antonio went 0-for-7 after Peoria earned five penalties in the third period.

Rivermen's Adam Cracknell had his seven-game point streak snapped in the loss. Peoria outshot San Antonio 26-22.

The Rivermen continue their three-game road trip against the Texas Stars on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game can be seen at Hooters in Peoria through the AHL Live broadcast on their many TV's. All games can be heard on CD Country 107.9 FM or online through www.rivermen.net.
