Mark Prior to Make Two Relief Appearances This Week for Orange County Flyers

FULLERTON, Calif. (August 19, 2010) - The Orange County Flyers will turn to right-handed pitcher Mark Prior out of the bullpen twice this week, with scheduled relief appearances tonight and Saturday against the Yuma Scorpions. Both games will be played at Goodwin Field in Fullerton with a first-pitch start time of 7:05pm. Prior, who was named to the NL All-Star team in 2003 and spent five years in the Major Leagues with the Chicago Cubs, is slated to pitch one inning in each outing according to Flyers manager Paul Abbott.

The Flyers acquired Prior on August 3, and he has made three relief appearances for Orange County. In five innings of work, Prior has struck out 10 batters with two walks and has allowed two hits and one unearned run. Opponents are batting .118 against the San Diego native.

Orange County begins its final home-stand of the regular season tonight, kicking off a three-game series against the Yuma Scorpions on Thirsty Thursday presented by The Pint House in Fullerton with $2 beers and sodas at the game. Friday the team is giving away dry-fit Flyers t-shirts as well as bobbleheads of KFI host John Kobylt to the first 500 fans in the gate. Friday's game is at 6:05pm with a post- game movie "Little Big League" being shown in the outfield after the game. Also on Friday, KFI's "John & Ken Show" will be hosting their show at the ballpark from 2-7pm.

On Saturday, the Flyers are hosting "Strikeout Pancreatic Cancer Night" at the ballpark, and the team will be wearing special purple uniforms that will be available through an in-game silent auction to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and their fight against pancreatic cancer. The Flyers are currently tied for first- place in the GBL South Division second half standings with Na Koa Ikaika Maui.
