Toros Shutout Cimarrones 13-0

The Tucson Toros scored in all but one inning to crush the Tijuana Cimarrones 13-0 Thursday night.

The Toros high-powered offense took charge right away in the 1st inning.

With two outs in the bottom of the 1st, LF Lino Garcia cranked a liner to right for an RBI single to put Tucson up 1-0.

In the 2nd inning C Luis Apodoca crushed a line drive to leftfield for a stand up triple, later scoring on a sacrifice fly by 2B Jose Valdez to stay in front 2-0.

By going 3-for-3 with 2 walks, Apodoca has now reached base safely in 9 consecutive at bats.

The Toros continued to roll in the 3rd and began to open up the game with a 3-run inning.

RF Ron Perodin, SS Ryan Priddy and 3B Wally Backman Jr. kept the scoring going with back-to-back-to-back RBI double's to go up 5-0.

Priddy extended his hit streak to 7 games, adding a second RBI double to left centerfield.

Priddy finished the night going 5-for-6, with 6 RBI and 1 run scored.

An RBI single by 2B Jose Valdez in the 6th gave the Toros a 9-0 advantage.

Later in the inning, Perodin drew a walk with the bases loaded to add to the lead.

Ryan Priddy followed with his second 2 RBI single of the night to build on their lead 12-0.

Darren Blakely pinch hit bomb off the scoreboard on the first pitch of the 8th inning to cap off the 13-0 victory.

Vince Davis grabbed his 4th win of the season, throwing with 7 scoreless innings of work while striking out 5.

Josh Womack also extended his hitting streak to 7 games with a linedrive double down the third base line in the 3rd inning.

The Toros will take on the Tijuana Cimarrones tomorrow night on Souvenir Saturday in game two of three, with a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
