
Mariners finish season with honors

Virginia Beach Mariners News Release
The Virginia Beach Mariners finished their 2005 Season with an end of the year celebration dinner attended by the players, the managers and their supporters.
The players voted among themselves for such distinguishing titles as Offensive Most Valuable- John Barry Nusum; Defensive Most Valuable- Joe Morelli and Steve Danbusky (tie); Players Choice Award- Chad Smith; and Most Valuable Player- Darren Caskey.
Based on USL standards for play the Mariners Coaching staff and owners awarded 16th place for Goals and Assists to Darren Caskey, first for Foul Leader to Steve Shak, and Hamisi Amani-Dove and Dave Castellanos were tied for special Mariners recognition of 27 out of 27 games played. Managing Team Director Mike McCann said "These team awards are ment to incourage respect, sportsmanship and player cooperation as we continue to build the Mariners Team toward a winning season in 2006." The Virginia Beach Mariners awards will be given annually.
The Mariners return in 2006 with a challenging schedule. Info on the 2006 Mariners schedule, season ticket sales, and sponsorship opportunities will be posted on the Mariners website at www.marinerssoccer.com in the near future.
